Default Quick Weapon Question

In PvE, is it important to use a caster spear rather than a caster sword?
The reason I am asking this is because I really like the Jade Sword skin on my ritualist, but if I got that instead of a spear, then I would lose the option to splinter or nightmare myself and chuck spears into a mob from a distance (not that this is a vital part of the game, but it's nice to have the option).

-also-

Should rits use +5 eng, -5 eng, or +30 health weapon setups if we are going to be casting Protective was Koali or other item spells eventually?

Thanks

If you're going to be using Prot was Kaolai then it doesn't matter what weapons you have since they don't get used when holding an item

If you're using [protective was kaolai] then it doesn't really matter unless you drop it right after. I prefer a caster spear because it makes it easier to call targets for heroes imo. If you prefer the sword, that's fine. You may want whichever weapon to have an inscription: get a perfect "I have the power!" (+5 energy) and perfect fortitude (+30 health) upgrade.

Yeah if your using Koali, the wep doesnt have much effect while holding the item.

But when you arnt, i run with a +5en/+30Hp spear, just cause i dont like accidently auto-attacking myself into mobs.

PvE is a fashion show, use whatever looks nice, it does not really matter cause you are under PWK most of the time anyways.

+5 en and +30 health is best

Ideally you could swap to a 40/40 set before casting PwK, but it's not really that important.
As for mods, I find it easier not to have any +energy mods on my equipment, because you will lose that when you cast an item spell.

40/40 is indeed a good idea!

True, but when u drop the ashes you get some extra energy, similar to weaponset switching in PvP

At 24/7 item spells, weapon mods are useless. But I never run 24/7 holding ashes + I always drop them before reapplying them. With that in mind I always prefer a 40/40 set!

Is there a special reason for doing this Tara?

Think I got it from PvP, having 40% recharge on (for example) Blind Was Mingson can be a lifesaver in RA! Totally worth dropping the ashes manually. And there's no point in w8ing for the casting time of the following ashes to drop the one you're carrying.

But as you can see it's more of a PvP thingy.
